Rrraaarrgh ... Zombies ...

Well Hallowe'en in St John's is madness. The celebration they have downtown is two days long and they call it Mardi Gras. Honest. Friday night was completely horrific weatherwise (it snowed/sleeted/rained ALL day, ALL night), so we didn't head down there. We had a fruitless trip to Value Village to try and find some dress up ideas, and then we watched Dawn of the Dead which finally gave us the idea for our costumes (zombies, naturally, not Sarah Polley).

Friday night we set of the fire alarm, lost the phone connection and had the front door blow open right in the middle of the horror film. Scary. So I couldn't call a cab home and spent the night on the couch. Saturday we spent looking for supplies, drinking, making fake blood and scabs and getting all gored up. We headed down to George Street as the weather had miraculously cleared up. I've never seen so many people in costume before, and most of them were pretty good. We went to a bar that Kathy used to work at, and then ended up in Club One, which was pretty cheesy but fun enough. We ended up on stage, zombie dancing to the band playing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - between two bands of cheerleaders. Who would specifically and purposely dress up as the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders?? Anyway, I have some new photos put up of the costume results. Pretty gory, but I like them!
