260920041552 Trout River, Newfoundland,

No Moose Yet

Just another quickie because this is really expensive and people are waiting for me so we can go on another hike (yes, seriously, I'm hiking).

I love Newfoundland! Ray and I have been really lucky with hitching - the first day we only waited a little while at the information centre before a lovely couple from BC picked us up. They weren't going too far north which was where we were heading, but they ended up letting us tag along while they drove us around the Port au Port peninsula which was stunning. The weather was beautiful, and they even bought us lunch in Stephenville. Lucky for us they had done a lot of travelling too and knew how much a free meal can mean! They dropped us off in Corner Brook where we stayed at a beautiful B&B in the comfiest bed ever. We managed to get a full roast dinner at a cafe for only $4.99. Dessert was a fantastic chocolate mousse cake which cost more than dinner did! Ray had to get a picture taken with the cake cause he loved it so much. We also bought greengages from some kids on the street. They were sour but they were only 10 cents.

This will have to be continued but I'm currently in Gros Morne National Park which is beautiful. My feet are wet from hiking this morning and we haven't seen any moose, but I'm very content right now! I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to head up into desolate Labrador with an English bush firefighter I met the other day ... Decisions, decisions!
