Rejected again ...

I just got back from having my blood rejected by yet another country. Canada won't take it because I've lived in the UK for more than three months (i.e. I obviously have some form of BSE/CJD), and now the UK won't take my blood cause I haven't been back from Canada for more than 28 days (i.e. I obviously have West Nile Disease). I can't win, damn these stupid pathogens. All I want to do is give a little of my precious O+ blood. Ingrates.

Anyway, back to last week ...

Tuesday: Slept a lot and then I met up with Andy who I met in Vancouver and we had a good old catch up about random people and debauchery that went on while I was there. I met his sister who was wicked too. After that I went to Ego with Tyler (so good to see him again), Bob, some actually straight guys and some other fag hags like me. It was heaps o' fun and a very late night.

Wednesday: What did I do on Wednesday? I didn't go to the Tron, that's for sure.

Thursday: Little Bec came back over from Ireland for a couple of days and we had a great dinner at Colleen's. Eilidh managed to meet a scary guy while she was gardening and he gave her cider. Then we went out to a few pubs, saw Graham E. Pearson in honour of Alyson, and then the girls went DJ spotting (supposedly this guy was "divine") but I went to the Phat Cave to see Flight of the Conchords. So worth it, I love them. Plus I get kisses from Mickey every time I go to his shows, so it's good.

Friday: Went up the high street to see Claude (the caricaturist) and had my portrait done, for the paltry fee of looking after his stuff while he went home to get a jacket (so much cheaper than the £15 he usually charges). Actually stayed in at the hostel that night for the first time all week. Got drunk anyway. Thank goodness for duty free.

Saturday: Went to Princes Street Gardens to see the South Africa in the park celebrations (10th year of democracy in SA). Had boerwurst (sp?) in a bun with tomatoey sauce, care of Ezan and Jay working hard on the brai (aka bbq). Then there was the SA vs Aus final tri nations game which was attended by the most awful SA girls yelling out apparently awful stuff in Afrikaans at every given opportunity in their piercingly terrible voices. I couldn't handle it for long so left before the game finished (Australia lost, meaning NZ won the whole thing, yay, I suppose). I had to get back for a burger shift and then that night went out to the quarry for another good party. We didn't actually get there til after 2am (after wandering randomly around the park with Ezan sure he knew where he was going) but it was good fun. They had a portable generator, dance tent, lights and DJ, which is pretty good for a quarry. Met some random Scottish guys and caught up with a few friends. Did some semi-impressive poi twirling with my glow poi (it was okay cause there were ravers as well as fire twirlers). Got home at 6ish in the morning and then had to stay up to see if there were any cheap flights for when I get back to Canada. Didn't end up asleep til after 8, and was nearly late for my shift again. Oops.

Sunday: Went back down to the park after my shift here and saw the Soweto Gospel Choir do a set, which was awesome. Had all day breakfast with Coll and Maz afterwards at good old Biblos, which was great. Nothing like fried haggis in the afternoon. I got tickets for a show after that and then my nap turned into a full on 16 hour coma, which was nice.

Monday: Went to a free show by Andrew Maxwell (random Irish guy) which was actually pretty good. Went out for a bit for Ezan's birthday but the music in the club was shit so I came back pretty early.

Tuesday: Went walkies up Calton Hill and took some great photos of the monument, Arthur's Seat and the city. Went to another show called Topping and Butch - two gay guys dressed in red vinyl singing songs with alternative words. Pretty hilarious, except for the current affairs bits and political slant that I sometimes didn't get, being all Canada-immersed and all.

Today I tried to give blood, but obviously didn't work. I'm about to go see another free show (NZ comic), then Maz is making me dinner and then we're going to see the full Conchords show. I'm so excited. Maybe a party at the Bongo Club after. Who knows, my life is so crazy after all ...
