Back to the 'burgh

Once again I don't have too much time to write but I will try and squeeze in everything I can before bunking back to Candice's to pack and get ready to go to the airport. I fly out to Edinburgh again in 5 hours!

So Quebec City was great, I had a good time even though it was just full of totally random people and occurrences. We managed to arrive in the middle of the celebration of Nouvelle France, which is what Quebec used to be called. So there were people in period costume for days on end, walking around with swords and stuff. We were walking home one night and this guy in a black hoodie holding a double headed hand ax came up and asked us for rollie papers - needless to say, if we had any, we would have given them to him!

I saw a good few museums, and a lot of old buildings, and basically found out that Quebec City was the first place virtually anything ever happened in North America (first grocery store etc). The hostel we stayed at was completely fascistic about time. They made us get up and pay every morning before 10am. No paying in advance, for some random reason. Couldn't believe it, especially since I'd been getting up at 4pm in Montreal.

Anyway, came back to Montreal for the weekend, finally managed to catch up with Mathieu (he was being a slacker and he knows it) at a party that he organised at his house for Saturday night. The actually party lasted til 7.30am, including a charades-ish game at 4am and then a trip to the local park. French Canadians are mad. I didn't make it back to the hostel til 10.30am on Monday, where I basically just packed up my stuff and hopped on a bus down here to Toronto.

I'm staying with my friend Candice in the brand new Woodsworth College residences at U of T (University of Toronto). They are the nicest residences I've ever seen, but they'd better be for $750 a month!! So it's been great hanging out with her, met some of her friends, went to a drag show, got free popcorn and candy floss at the free outdoor movies last night and scammed a free ticket to see Umoja at the Elgin Theatre (musical based on the history of South African music at a really beautiful restored theatre downtown). Caught up with Darren and David this week too - everyone got an evening each, lucky them. I finally managed to see City of God too, which I'm so happy about. It was as amazing as it was hyped up to be.

I have to go though, must needs pick up some candy for Maz and pack my stuff! Can't believe I'm flying back over the Atlantic ...
