Abandonment and Redirection - 10082005 |
What's going on with Wendy? ... ? 020720041419 Two years and still going strong! Well it hardly seems likely but yet another Canada Day has come and gone, which means that this is the 2nd Anniversary of my wonderful online diary. Freaky. Hip-hip, Hooray! Send me congratulatory presents! Yesterday was actually a really good day. Got up late as usual and went down to Granville Island with some of my friends. The number of Canadian flags around was a little scary, but the Aquabus over there was running a two for one deal if you wore red and white. We walked across the bridge instead. There were jazz festival performances and a kung fu demonstration (including lion dancing and "traditional" Chinese dancing, which was a little lame, but the kung fu was pretty cool). There were lots of other things going on but we opted for cheap drinks in the pub instead. After getting off the island, I ended up going to see the Andy Warhol exhibit at the art gallery (I was really tired, but it got me out of the sun). We missed the cannabis rally by a couple of hours but apparently that was pretty impressive too. The exhibit was really good, and unfortunately I was too tired to completely do the upper floors (not Warhol, some west coast stuff). Note to self: check out the Learning to Love You More website later, as the ideas seemed really interesting. After the gallery I came back to the hostel to get in line for the BBQ. Not as good as HSH burgers (especially mine!) or disposable BBQ sausages (mine again!), but it was pretty good. I had a mega sized slushy as well which was nice in the warm weather. I went to a house party after that and met a bunch of random Canadians, who were all really cool and lovely to talk to, which was lucky since I really wasn't in the mood in the beginning. I met a guy called Roland, what more can you ask for?? We were there til after two and then got a taxi back in. I ended up having a nightcap at this guy's apartment which is around the corner from the hostel. Such a sweet place! But then he started telling me stories about when he was in high school in '78 (3 years before I was born) and I was like, okay, it's probably time for me to go home. So another 5am bedtime, completely successful Canada Day! I've linked my old guestbook so just ignore the entries before 2002! Take a peek Sign it already
