Abandonment and Redirection - 10082005 |
What's going on with Wendy? ... ? 050420041741 So Much Pain ... Another big weekend full of sleep deprivation but surprisingly involving some decent exercise as well ... I went out every night from Monday to Saturday and consequently slept through most of Sunday ... I went out to the pub on Friday, got bored really early but somehow managed to stay up til 6am playing pool, talking, spying on people on the street and watching X-Men on video. I'd promised Priscilla that I would go to Stanley Park with Evan the Columbian so he could teach me some martial arts. I still don't know what discipline though. Priscilla wimped out but I managed to drag Katrina and Michelle down (under the premise that they wouldn't actually have to do anything). So in the beautiful 20 degree weather I ended up running (yeah, I know, I don't run), squatting, doing sit ups and learning how to give and receive quite a few punches and kicks. Considering Chris and Evan were both really experienced, I think I did okay. They were both really nice to me actually. That was Chris's downfall since I managed to take him out pretty badly with a fluke of a kick to the inner thigh when he was about to throw me. I only ended up with one massive bruise on my shin and very stiff muscles all over. At least I know that I can cause a lot of pain now if I need to (Evan made sure to teach us soem basic but effective self-defense moves - e.g. ripping off someone's ear (ewww). I'll definitely be out there with them again some sunny weekend. Probably not keen enough to be buying a mouthguard yet though ... Saturday night was wee Scottish Andy's 21st, so we went out for dinner, pre-club drinks and then dancing at the Plaza. Nobody needs to remind me that I never want to go there again. It was all crap pop/hip hop and full of people with negative fashion sense. I had fun for a while but watching the boys dancing on stage is only entertaining for a little while (who knew a couple of brits and a couple of aussies would be comfortable enough (or drunk enough) to dance with with each other on stage in front of a club full of people?). Michelle and I didn't even last til 1am we were so bored - so we went home and had a relatively early one. I think with the Daylight Savings time change I went to bed at 3am. Not too bad really. I've linked my old guestbook so just ignore the entries before 2002! Take a peek Sign it already
