Just wanted to say that my first live hockey game was fantastic! I went with my roommate and a bunch of random people from the hostel and the whole cheesy experience was great. There was expensive beer and food, totally over the top cheesy music all the time (including Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi), a huge inflatable motorised orca that flew around the stadium while the zambonis were clearing up the ice between periods, random prizes for various audience members, Fin the Canucks mascot (another orca, who apparently gets paid about $60K a year which isn't bad for prancing around in an animal mask), 5 goals, two broken sticks, and a gloves-off punch up which was what most people came to see anyway. I still don't claim to know what's going on most of the time but the atmosphere was charged and I had a ball. The Calgary Flames beat Vancouver 3 to 2, I personally think they deserved to win but I wouldn't tell any of the locals that. I was just impressed at the speed these guys can get on the ice, and the fact that they can jump over the wall all the time without decapitating each other. If I can afford to go again, I definitely will!

Speaking of which, money is dwindling pretty fast already on various things (mostly going out to eat too much) and employment may be on the horizon. I have an interview with an office temp company tomorrow morning so will see how that goes. I may be begging my parents to ship me some decent clothes since I brought hardly any with me and couldn't find much on my shopping excursion today. I really didn't want to be someone's admin bitch again but since I'm good at it and it pays more than selling your soul telemarketing, it might be the only way to go.
