I totally forgot about Waitangi Day. I'm such a bad kiwi. I sort of lost track of the days and until I got Bec's Happy Waitangi Day email I didn't even realise. BUT I did wear the NZ tshirt that Jared gave me yesterday so maybe it was a subconscious choice.

Yesterday I went walking all about town and then went food shopping and sat around in the hostel talking til nearly 4am. Typical! I was going to go to a house party with some random people but decided to stay home in favour of being hassled by Aussies. But it was fun nonetheless.

Today I went out with my two roommates and a guy from the hostel to go looking for jeans and things at a second hand shop. I ended up getting a pair of ski-pants instead which was just as good. The guy in the shop did not stop talking though and I thought I'd never get out of there.

We headed down the road past the Elbow Room which is a cafe that's known for it's wait staff abusing the patrons (for those of you who know her, just imagine Christy Delaney serving you breakfast. It's exactly like that. Everyone gets called sluts and assholes etc etc). Chris wanted to stop for breakfast, but none of us was particularly keen until Erin thought she saw Chris Klein sitting at the window table. I did a double take and confirmed that it was him, along with Brendan Fehr (Michael from Roswell) who I think is much much hotter. Erin couldn't contain herself and it took a lot of calming her down (and convincing Chris that we wouldn't embarass him if we went in) before we made it inside. We actually ended up at the table just across from them, and Priscilla realised that they were with Katie Holmes (the other girl must have been Brendan Fehr's girlfriend). Erin managed to order and eat without hyperventilating or throwing up, so it was quite a successful breakfast. Priscilla is also convinced that Chris Klein and Katie Holmes are a couple (they looked quite cosy) - so if you read it in the tabloids one day, you heard it here first! And if anyone's curious, they are all just as hot as they look on TV. Dammit.

Anyway, that was my first famous-people experience in Canada, and it was pretty good value.

I think I'll go and see Jeff this week in Victoria and see if I can make it back up here for the hockey game on Wednesday. There can't be anything better than Canadian guys skating around with big sticks, surely?
