A charmed day

I just wanted to write about the wonderful day I just had ...

Started out pretty ordinarily although I didn't get my coffee til after I'd dropped my sister off at work. I had poached eggs for breakfast, didn't do much during the day, but when I went to go get some essentials from the supermarket, I ran into Catherine who I haven't seen in years. She didn't get my email saying I was back in the country, which sort of explains why I haven't heard from her. I will need to ring her. If only I'd also won the instant kiwi crossword I bought.

Anyway, I accepted a short term job in Mt Wellington of all places (way way way too far away from where I live but we all know Wendy is a slave to the money), got invited to Holly's birthday drinks, had a quick but lovely chat with David which made me late to pick up my sister (she understands), went home to get ready for the ORL department (head and neck, ear nose and throat at the hospital I was working at) work function, put off arriving for a while cause I didn't really know anyone but had a couple of wines and a tequila with Felix (slightly too friendly but I got rid of him eventually), was totally appreciated by the ward staff (damn right, we all know Wendy doesn't get up at the arsecrack of dawn (that's technically 5.35am) to start work at 7 for just anybody - actually this is possibly the first time, ever), heard Flower of Scotland played really badly on the bagpipes, got asked if I was a house surgeon several times and asked if I was the cute registrar's girlfriend too, went to see Jared play, got told by the bouncer that I look stunning tonight, got yummy chips and aioli from Burger Fuel to soak up a bit of alcohol, thought I saw Andrew Short who I haven't seen since high school, then actually saw him and had a quick chat and catch up, had a lot of chats with the bouncer (who was taught by one of my favourite teachers at high school), got hit on by two random guys in their thirties who went away reasonably easily at the end of the night, finally met the band guys properly, got free drinks and nearly palatable snacks at the bar, made arrangements to see Jared play again tomorrow and got to see Sarah!

What a fabulous night. I'm so glad I went to the work thing, even though I only worked there for a (crucial!) week and a half.

Oh and I didn't pull a Chinese doctor at the work function. Sorry Mum.
