Come get lost with me ...

Wow, seeing David Beckham on TV just makes me homesick for the UK. I miss seeing him on every magazine cover and listening to his falsetto girl voice in interviews. Oh well.

There's no big news from home though, although I've managed to settle into my usual random sleep pattern again (anyone who has seen me sleep knows that I can go for 3 days without and then sleep for about 20 hours in a row).

A classic example: I went out for coffee with Tim the other night around 10pm, chatted with him til about 3am, went home to put a new zip in my brother's school shorts, mucked around, got back to my sister's around 6am, closed my eyes, woke up at 6.45, had a shower, took her to work, took my grandmother to the doctor and the chemist, came home & emailed my CV to a few temp agencies, took my brother to an exam, saw my old art teacher (him: "you look different, what's different about you?" Me: "must be the new glasses" Him: "oh, that must be it") who wants me to come back and help him paint sets again, came home, picked my sister up from work and then went into town to see a show. Decided against going out afterwards as I figured I needed some sleep. Then slept til about 5pm the next day.

The show I went to see was Peter Powers, who does over 3 hours worth of an R18 hypnosis show. It was well worth it, if a little long. He was a total bastard though, making people look for leprechauns all the way through the intermission, making two guys think they were gay lovers showering together (in matching jockeys, one in tights, yick) and making a guy row in a dinghy for about half an hour, thinking he was about to die, be rescued, being chased by a shark etc etc. It was all in all very entertaining though.

Last night I went to Lucy and Dave's birthday party after helping my sister get ready for her work ball. I stayed for a bit, had some of their food, met up with some people, and then headed off to town to see some friends and my boys Jester play their last gig. Although technically, they played their last gig a few months ago, so maybe this was their first reunion gig. They played at the Temple where they played their first gig nearly 6 years ago (I was there then too, and I think they appreciated that). The Temple was a staple live music venue in Auckland, and it closed at the end of last night. I got to catch up with a lot of people, most of whom didn't know I was back. I randomly ran into a couple of girls, one that I've known for 10 years and one for 12, it was bizarre but amazing to see them. Jester sounded f@#king awesome, even without a practice, and I'm so sad it's all over. They dedicated Canary Wharf to me though, which was really special, as they've never played a song just for me in all those years. Finally being a groupie paid off!

I ended up driving probably about 100km last night, taking people home to random places all over Auckland. I should just get a meter put in my car and start charging people ...

It's Canadian Thanksgiving weekend again, so Happy Thanksgiving to all concerned! This time last year I was in Louisiana, which is bizarre. I hope you all get bloated on turkey (in the best (non permanent) way, of course) and have a great weekend ...
