Abandonment and Redirection - 10082005 |
What's going on with Wendy? ... ? 060920031003EST In desperate need of clean laundry Aly and I made it to Olympia Sports Camp slightly later than the quoted late afternoon/early evening. Filling up the car at Naponee (home of Avril Lavigne, no less) took way too much time, and we nearly got caught breaking into Aly's ex's parent's boat, and then they took us on a cruise. So by the time we'd eaten (I think I was still full from the Mexican from the night before) and realised we didn't have enough time to do much needed laundry, we got to the camp around 9.30. It was deserted, except for some people who were setting up for a wedding this weekend. There were no staff on site, but luckily the bunkhouse was unlocked so we had somewhere to sleep. The next day we got up nice and early to see if we could find someone to tell us what to do, which took us about an hour, including foraging for breakfast in the kitchen. As expected, Aly's boss had forgotten that we were coming. The rest of the day was spent doing random things like lifting foot cubed concrete blocks and sweeping out the rec hall. At one point we lost everybody, went away to play a game of scrabble, and then I had to sit through a meeting that went over everything they were going to do until November. Useful for them, I hope. Aly and I were going to go into town to do laundry and check out the small town night life ... and then realised that we had no car keys. Search ensued, no luck though. We ended up making nachos for dinner and then Aly made Eddy and I watch Youngblood (super cheesy 80s movie about ice hockey (or just hockey, as I am in Canada) - starring Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves with a really awful French Canadian accent). Yesterday morning I got up a bit late, packed my stuff, helped out polishing and setting out cutlery, had lunch, and then tried to get everyone organised so that they could get me to the bus on time. We left 15 minutes after we were supposed to, and made it just as the buses were packing up to go. After sweet talking the ticket man and getting a student discount, I was on the bus to Toronto. Which leads me to here. I had a wonderful evening walking around the city with David last night (I know he reads this), and we're going to go market shopping, museuming and clubbing today. And I get to do my laundry! I've linked my old guestbook so just ignore the entries before 2002! Take a peek Sign it already
