Abandonment and Redirection - 10082005 |
What's going on with Wendy? ... ? Th310720031310 Been up since 4.30 am (so forgive me if this is a little incoherent) I didn’t have time to update on Monday, as I had too much work to finish before taking off on Tuesday… I had a wicked weekend. I decided that I really needed to go out on Friday, even though budgets don’t normally allow (actually, my hair decided we needed to go out, as it was looking so great). A bunch of people went down to the Bongo Club where one of the tour drivers was DJing at a Peter Pan-themed night. There was awesome music – house with live trumpet and sax, a garage band with a guy who beat-boxed the entire set (I had to keep telling myself it wasn’t an entire drumkit, it was amazing), and a few different DJs. There were breakers as well, but call me crazy if I can’t take breakdancers seriously when they look like schemies (Scottish white trash, white tracksuits and all). On Saturday I went to watch the NZ v Australia Tri-nations game (God forbid I come home giving a toss about rugby) with a bunch of other Antipodeans. Even though I don’t care about rugby, it was the biggest win NZ has ever had over Australia, so that made me happy. Even the Canadians (girls) are converted to the cause, as they have never really seen how good looking Maori and Pacific Island guys can be (even whilst wearing new tight lycra uniforms). Then it was the usual coffee at Coll’s place, safety sleep (as we are getting old) and then back to the pub for a little while. Sunday was a wickedly relaxing day (once I had finished putting Tomas in his place when we were making beds). Coll, Maz, Aly and I hopped a bus out to Bonaly and went walkies round the reservoir, had a picnic, some tea, some wine and some sunshine with great company. That night was an easy one that finished with a tie game of Scrabble with Aly (bonding again). We also met an extremely annoying Scrabble geek from Scarborough, Ontario, who I think was trying to chat us up with his vast Scrabble knowledge and insulting us in a trying-to-be-cool-by-dissing-you sort of way. Personally, I don’t read the official rules and official scrabble words book and try to remember everything so I can annihilate the competition. I just do it by natural talent, of course. That was a wee bit of a scary board game rant, somebody stop me from becoming a nerd … Oh, Mickey D was in the paper – he’s broken both his wrists. The show will go on, and you can’t get much better free publicity. I haven’t seen him since I heard on the weekend (he fell/was pushed off an 8 foot wall), but he’s still going to do his show, for the good of the viewing public. I've linked my old guestbook so just ignore the entries before 2002! Take a peek Sign it already
